Hi! You’ve found the blog of Princess Ardala – shelter rescue, cuddle bug, herding mix, and all-around bossy-pants. Ardala was diagnosed with Spondylosis around three years ago, but it has probably been going on for some time. Spondylosis is disease which affects the spine; tiny micro-fractures in vertebrae heal over with bone growths called osteophytes. Over time, these osteophytes can cause inflammation of the spinal cord. This in turn leads to neuropathy in the limbs. Ardala’s spondylosis is in the area of the spine that controls the rear limbs. She’s still happy, friendly, pretty pain-free (with the help of a daily NSAID) and is blessedly continent. She goes to physical therapy about every other week (paychecks willing) and we have ordered her a custom-built wheelchair. In the next few weeks I will post more info about Ardala, her condition, the wheels, and whatnot. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will try and answer them for you. Hope to see you again soon!
